Everything breaks but it's important to know when.
In February 1991, at the University of Ghent's testing laboratory, full-scale Redirack® pallet racks from S.A Redirack® N.V were tested to destruction.
Professor J.M. Davies DSc, FICE, FIStructE who was at the University of Ghent to witness the full-scale testing of the Redirack® system ,is playing a leading role in drafting the F.E.M. "Fédération Européene de la Manutantion" design code for pallet racking and shelving. He commented that full-scale testing of complete racking systems is rare and that he was not aware of any other tests that have been carried out on an assembly as large as this. He was delighted that the test confirmed the theoretical design calculations. This will obviously give the users of the Redirack® system increased confidence in the product.
However, equally important from Professor Davies's viewpoint is the consideration that the data obtained from the tests will be of great benefit to him and his colleagues in improving the procedures available for the design of this important class of structure.
The strength,rigidity,beam rotational stiffness,the effect of cold rolled pre-punched sections and the welding of the Redirack® pallet racking under both normal and cryogenic conditions have been tested by the following independent organisations
